Because it is a smaller school then public there is a sense of community throughout. We have always been able to contact the teachers or staff if we had a question or an issue. We love seeing their passion for knowledge embraced and nurtured by the teachers. They are excited to come home and tell us some interesting fact they learned that day. The girls enjoy going to school and learning. We believe we are giving our children the best education available in our area and look at the school as an investment in their future.

Niche User: We have 2 girls in SJRS and love it. If I wanted to be in two advanced majors, there were limited options, due to 5 out of 6 advanced classes occurring at the same time. One negative is the lack of creative scheduling. In that classroom you know your job and place is to create and leave negative energy at the door. You get to make art with everyone, regardless of your feelings towards any certain individual. It’s one of the only places with true professionalism in the building. They make it a place to do work and make art and do not encourage bickering or teenage drama. The Theatre Major as a whole felt like the safest place to be myself, due to the teachers. Teachers are very perceptive and the GSA is one of the best, clubs in the school. They have zero tolerance for discrimination and do not hesitate to discipline students for bullying or discriminating. Overall, the school can provide a unique and beneficial high school experience. As a county-wide school, the student body tends to lack school identity and pride, although many school events such as pep rallies have been organized to help unite students and build morale. Their classes would benefit from more standardization. Some adjunct teachers show a lack of teaching education with disorganized or off-topic lessons. Many teachers are well experienced in the field they teach and provided valuable details about the work environment. The school provides a wide variety of clubs and activities while the class schedule functions very similarly to how a college schedule works, preparing students well for the college environment and encouraging work experience. Alum: As a vocational school, Atlantic County Institute of Technology provides students with a very unique opportunity to get a head start in their future careers and have a more varied high school experience.
